How To Fit Fuelock

Instructions

Fitting Fuelock is quick and easy. Typically it can be fitted in 5-10 minutes per tank. Why not order a water version of Fuelock too?

step 1

1 Unlock Fuelock by inserting the key and turning it 270 degrees CLOCKWISE.

2 Hold Fuelock Cap PM002 firmly in one hand and unscrew Fuelock Cap from Adaptor PM001

3 Remove one of the existing retaining screws or bolts and retain for use in step 4. ONLY then unscrew the existing fuel cap. See Note 1 if screws impossible to access

step 4

4 Screw Adaptor PM001 into the existing filler hole until it is almost flush with deck, then slowly turn until holes in Adaptor PM001 align with existing fixing screw hole. Now refit existing securing screw or bolt from original fuel filler. DO NOT over-tighten the screw

Note: Two "O" rings are supplied and fitted to seal Adaptor PM001 on the fuel filler, depending on your craft, only 1 may be required. On some older fittings where corrosion has taken place it may be prudent to wrap the PMoo1 adaptor thread with PTFE tape before fitting or a proprietary liquid gasket/sealant. (Not supplied)

step 5

5 Screw in Fuelock Cap fully. Take care not to over-tighten as this may make later removal difficult.

Turn key 270 degrees

ANTI- CLOCKWISE and remove it for safekeeping

step 6

6 Close Lock Cover PM003. Press down and back towards hinge until it clicks audibly.

Note 1

Should it be impossible to remove any of the securing screws owing to lack of access , then take the following steps, but only after seeking professional and qualified advice:-

WARNING: DO NOT DO THIS WITH PETROL FUEL FILLERS. IF THE BOAT HAS PETROL TANKS STOP NOW! AND SEEK QUALIFIED ADVICE!

Unscrew existing filler cap
Screw in Adaptor PM001 fully until it is flush with the deck. (It may be necessary to remove one of the "O" rings on Adaptor)
Mark through one of the holes in Adaptor with a felt pen or centre punch,
Unscrew the adaptor
VERY IMPORTANT now refit the original filler cap securely .
Drill a 3mm hole at the marked point DO NOT DRILL INTO OR NEAR PETROL FILLERS
Remove any dust and swarf from the area
Unscrew the original fuel cap
Screw in Adaptor PM001 and align one of the holes with the drilled hole
Screw a suitable length counter sunk stainless steel self-tapping screw into the alignment hole.
